Per il lancio promozionale dell’Xbox, ultimo nato in casa Microsoft, Bill Gates ha deciso di puntare sul sicuro affidandosi alle vulcaniche trovate di un gigante dell’intrattenimento informatico: il vostro affezionato Capitan Trash!

A pagina 46 del numero di Maggio 2002 della rivista inglese THE FACE compare questa pubblicita’ della neonata console, chiara citazione (i plagi si chiamano cosi’ adesso vero?) dell’immagine di copertina di CINEMA AMBRA n. 5 di Luglio-Agosto 1996.

Devo ammettere che per me questa “collaborazione” e’ motivo di grande orgoglio anche se il vecchio Bill, al termine del nostro incontro, mi ha confessato di aver scordato –forse per l’emozione- il libretto degli assegni in ufficio....

Naturalmente tra giganti questo genere di dettagli e’ assolutamente marginale, e sono certo che mr. Gates vi porra’ rimedio quando ci rivedremo in occasione del prossimo “Microsoft Party”. E in quell’evenienza mi premurero’ di offrirgli –in segno di stima- almeno una decina di quei “drinks” che sembrano piacergli tanto....!!!

Capitan Trash

For the promotional launch of Xbox, Microsoft’s latest brainchild, Bill Gates has decided to take no risks and avail himself of the world-famous creativity and inventiveness of a giant in the field of computer entertainment: good old Capitan Trash!

This advertisement for the newly-launched game console appears on page 46 of the May 2002 issue of the British magazine THE FACE: a clear reference (the term that plagiarism goes by these days!) to the cover image of CINEMA AMBRA no. 5 of July - August 1996.

I have to admit that this “collaboration” is a source of great pride for me in spite of the fact that when we met, my good friend Bill confessed that he had left his chequebook at the office. I can only think that this forgetfulness was due to the excitement of meeting me....

Of course between men of our stature this kind of detail is utterly irrelevant, and I’m sure that Mr Gates will be only too eager to remedy the situation when we meet at the next "Microsoft Party". And in return, as a token of my esteem, I’ll be sure to offer him a dozen or so of the drinks that he was so taken with....!!!
